Our care advice

Smooth Calfskin

Because of its natural finishing touches, your smooth calfskin belt is more sensitive to scratches. Smooth calfskin gets a patina over time. The colour of the leather gets darker and the texture smoother.

Care advice

  1. Slightly moisten a smooth cotton cloth.
  2. Gently rub the leather in circles.
  3. Let it dry for 5 minutes.
  4. Use the dry part of your cotton cloth to polish your leather and make it shine.

Beware not to wear your belt while it is still drying or it will lose its colours.

Use precautions

Beware that your smooth calfskin item (mostly your belt) may bleed onto light colored clothes, especially in damp weather. Moreover, we highly recommend you not to expose to a strong light your smooth calfskin item for a long time and avoid contact with water. In case it gets wet, stretch it out flat in the dark and let it dry. Do not place it directly next to a heat source.

Clean a greasy stain

In case your smooth calfskin item is stained with grease, do not use water to clean it. Instead, wipe the stain with a clean cotton cloth and cover it with 'Terre de Sommières'. Leave the powder on for 5 to 10 minutes. Do not hesitate to repeat the operation if necessary. Once the stain is removed, clean your smooth calfskin item following the care advice above.

Exotic skins

Like all other exotic skins, karung,  selachii and alligator leathers are noble and fragile materials and get a patina over time. The leathers we offer develop a natural patina over time, with their colors darkening slightly and their texture becoming smoother and shinier.

Care advice

To care about your exotic leathers we recommend that you use the Reptan Saphir cream.

  1. Shake the exotic leather balm and pour a few drops on a smooth cotton cloth.
  2. Gently rub the leather in circles.
  3. Let it dry for 5 minutes.
  4. Use the dry part of your cotton cloth to polish your leather and make it shine.

If the leather is very dry, repeat this operation on a regular basis.

Beware not to wear your belt while it is still drying or it will lose its colors.

Silk

To preserve the beauty, softness, and natural luster of your silk for years to come, avoid washing it at home, as well as rubbing, wringing, or prolonged exposure to water. Since silk is a particularly delicate natural fiber, we recommend that you have it cleaned exclusively by a professional dry cleaner specializing in delicate fabrics.

For everyday use, handle your garment with care and avoid, as much as possible, contact with perfumes, cosmetics, and other products that could damage the fiber or its color.

Cashmere

Our cashmere is crafted from the longest and finest fibers, selected for their exceptional quality and softness. Over time and with repeated use, the fiber naturally relaxes, and the cashmere gradually becomes even softer and more pleasant to the touch.

Particularly fine cashmere scarves are naturally more delicate. Repeated friction, especially from contact with a beard, jewelry, or zippers, can cause slight pilling or snags. These are a natural result of friction and do not compromise the quality of the fiber. Avoid washing at home, rubbing, wringing, and any source of excessive heat to preserve the fiber’s structure and natural properties.

Professional, gentle care will allow your scarf to retain its beauty and develop a natural patina over the years.
