At J.Hopenstand, we have always placed a high value on collaboration. Jacques used to work in close partnership with his clients, exchanging ideas and creating unique pieces together. We wanted to carry on this spirit by now opening up our savoir-faire with other artisans and artists.

These collaborations stem above all from personal connections, a shared passion for exquisite craftsmanship, and a mutual respect for exceptional materials. By bringing together different skills, sensibilities, and creative worlds, we seek to create one-of-a-kind pieces, where each artisan brings their own story and vision.

Norman Vilalta

The Collaboration

Our collaboration with Norman Vilalta was born out of a shared passion for leather, craftsmanship, and materials. A shoemaker renowned for his hand-applied patinas, Norman shares our commitment to creating pieces that develop their own character over time.

We chose our belt as the link between our two areas of expertise. Crafted in our workshops from exceptional leathers, it is then sent to Norman’s workshop to receive its patina, applied entirely by hand. Each piece thus reveals its own unique depth and personality.

Collector Cards

The Project

The Collectible Cards project began as a tribute to Jacques Hopenstand, who loved to spend time with his family playing cards after a long day in the studio.

To keep this passion alive and carry on this tradition, every year since 2023 we’ve invited a Swiss artist or an artist with a special connection to Switzerland to design their own deck of cards and share their favorite game with us.

This initiative also reflects one of the J.Hopenstand team’s passion: art and the connections it fosters. We love building bridges between our world and that of artists, collaborating with them to imagine new forms of dialogue, and bringing to life unexpected, sensitive, and vibrant objects.

Each creation is produced in a limited edition, making every deck not only a collector’s item but also an object to be enjoyed and shared.

Through this project, we hope to bring a touch of tenderness, creativity, and fun into our lives, while building, year after year, a collection that tells stories and showcases different personalities and artistic worlds.
