Art-déco buckle "Éventail" on a podium

Accessory Eventail silver, black lacquered

Buckle

In 1925, the style known as « art deco » reached its climax during the international exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris. To pay tribute to this belle-époque artistic movement and to Jacques Hopenstand who opened his first workshops the same year in Paris, the brand is introducing the new buckles Éventail.

Made using the champlevé technique, a method employed in decorative arts that involves removing a small amount of material in order to inlay the enamel, a single Éventail buckle passes through the hands of no fewer than five different artisans before it is completed.

This piece is a tribute to Jacques Hopenstand, who opened his first studio in Paris in 1925, at the height of the Art Deco movement.
